Five teachers of Pearls primary school in Kasese town on Saturday died in a motor accident at Rutoto village in Rubirizi district.

The deceased include; Priva Tumukunda, Tamari Atuzarirwe, Moshi Ziada, Hannington Atuhaire and Sylvester Thembo.

Robert Tumusiime, the deputy head teacher at Pearls primary school said that the deceased teachers were traveling from Bushenyi district where they had gone to attend a Speech Day event at Pearls junior school, their sister school.

The teachers who were traveling in a Toyota Noah registration number UAS 327Z were knocked by a fast moving truck at Rutoto. The injured include; Thomas Kule, Prossy Kanyere and a one Agnes who were rushed to KIU teaching hospital.

Tumusiime says this is a huge blow since most of the teachers were class teachers yet the incident has happened at a time of compiling end of year reports.
