Namulindwa meets the man who raped, impregnated her

The man who raped Namulindwa was charged, tried and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Namulindwa was in high school when one incident changed her life forever. On random day, while she was visiting a friend, she was attacked and raped. Namulindwa recalls walking home in pain, though she could not immediately establish the extent of her injuries.

When she arrived home, she told her mother about the incident and together they reported the matter to the Police, which led to the arrest and subsequent prosecution of the perpetrator.

The effects of rape can be long or short term and range from the physical (bruising, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy, among others), to the emotional (fear, anxiety, suicidal feelings, and so much more).

Namulindwa suffered a range of these as the man who raped her was charged, tried and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

One would think that with proper counselling and support from family, Namulindwa would be able to work towards putting that incident behind her. But 10 years on, she is still struggling.

This is because she is regularly faced with the reminder of the worst experience of her life, every time she travels to the prison where he was jailed. Why would she do that, you may wonder.

She has her reasons, which she discloses to us in her story which she courageously chose to share with us in Her Vision.

Hers is a unique story, a story which the man who hurt her is also a part of. Is he remorseful? Does he give his reasons why he did that to her?

What would you do if you found yourself in her shoes? Find a copy of the New Vision because this is one of those stories you have to read for yourself.
