Uganda COVID-19 deaths: ‘8 out of 10 had blood pressure’

The health ministry has said that eight out of 10 of Uganda’s COVID-19 deaths presented with high blood pressure as an underlying condition.
As such, inĀ a tweet, the ministry has advised the public to go for regular medical check-ups for one to keep up to date with one’s health status.
In the same spirit, the ministry has also reiterated its call to people to “strongly adhere” to the instituted COVID-19 standard operating procedures.
The latest report card on Uganda’s coronavirus situation is based on the tests done on October 17, 2020, which confirmed 135 new cases.
The information, made public by the health ministry, shows that Uganda has had one new coronavirus death, bringing the cumulative mortality number to 97. This means that as many as 77 of these cases had blood pressure.
Uganda’s cumulative confirmed cases, going by the results from the October 17 tests, are 10,590. This statistic includes 6,992 recoveries.
The health ministry is expected to give an update on the results from the latest tests done.
What you should do

The health ministry has reminded the public of the basic guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, which has for the last 10 months affected the entire world.
They are:
Avoid unnecessary movements to crowded places, especially individuals who have known underlying conditions.
Always wear a face mask when you go out of your home.
Always wash your hands with soap and running water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Maintain a physical distance of at least two metres when interacting with other people.
