Kampala. With 13 games played and two left to the end of the first round, a win for any of the three of the bottom four clubs in action this evening will go a long way in boosting survival hopes as they re-energize for the second round.
Consequently Nyamityobora coach Asaph Mwebaze did not mince his words about the importance of today’s game against Paidha Black Angels.
“Considering the position we are in it is a must win,” he stressed after his side suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Express in what has been the story since he joined the club with the other three games also lost by one-goal margins.
Mwebaze will once again be forced to call up on the services of reserve players following a player strike recently. His side are second from bottom with seven points, two ahead of Paidha with five.
The latter could have done without a trip to Mbarara from Zombo at the moment.
Coach Muhammad Kisekka admitted after the 6-1 mauling by KCCA that the best chance his side had of pulling through their current financial mess is if they resume hosting games in Zombo and not in Arua.
The other game involves Express who have steered away from relegation talk this season against fourth frombottom Maroons.
Four places and six points separate the two teams although Express coach Kefa Kisala and those associated with the club feel there is still room for improvement.
“The body language and character wasn’t good for the whole game and so we need to improve against Maroons,” Kisala said after the 2-1 Nyamityobora win.
Both teams won their previous games with Maroons edging Ndejje 3-2. “It will be a tight game because both teams won their previous games. We all have confidence but it will depend on how much we really want the game,” Maroon’s Brian Majwega who has been struggling with fever noted.
