No need for ‘Plan B’ to oust Museveni out of power – Muntu
There will be no need to invoke former presidential candidate Rtd Col. Kizza Besigye’s ‘Plan B’ to oust President Yoweri Museveni from power, Gen. Mugisha Muntu, the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate has said.
This comes a day after the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat vowed to invoke Besigye’s ‘Plan B’ should Museveni temper with the general elections scheduled for January 14, 2020.
Muntu, who is currently campaigning in Bugisu region, says Ugandans don’t need ‘Plan B’ to oust Museveni from power but leaders need to change the mindset of Ugandans about the incumbent regime. It is still unclear what constitutes Besigye’s ‘Plan B’, but the retired former personal doctor of President Museveni has severally called for civil disobedience.
Muntu said Museveni needs to be peacefully retired from power through ballots and not forced out. When told by residents that Museveni, will, as usual, steal the votes, Muntu said that was just the propaganda sold by the regime to create a sense of uncertainty and hopelessness amongst Ugandans.
He told voters at Busamaga Church of Uganda playground in Mbale city on Sunday that Museveni’s government has worked tirelessly to fail institutions in the country, adding that the country needs good services in the areas of health, education and security, which the current regime has failed to provide. Mugisha blamed Museveni’s overstay in power for the rampant corruption in the country.
